Axel Lischke was born in Höxter (NRW, Germany) in 1956. From 1980 to 1985, he studied sculpture at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts and then Fine Arts at the University of the Arts in Berlin. He had a study stay in Basel from 1989 to 1990 as part of the DAAD scholarship.
